How to make a Spider Bun for Halloween

When my daughter was in elementary school, I did the spider hair bun on her for school. They couldn’t have costumes, but it was good old Halloween fun in a subtle way. (I’m not sure why we didn’t make a Halloween shirt too?! haha)

How easy it is to make a Spider Bun for Halloween:

First: I glued 2 larger eyes to a bobby pin.

Second: Put her hair in a bun.

Third: I bent the legs 2 times, creating a leg look to them.

Lastly: We simply tucked the pipe cleaners in the bun, and they stayed all day. I did 3 on each side.

  1. Ok, now you’ve really got me in trouble! LOL!! My 5 year old grandson (who happens to LOVE spiders) saw the picture of the spider bun on this post & asked me if I would “please make that & wear it for Halloween Nene. Please!” Here’s the pickle. I’d do anything for this child BUT I hate spiders!! I don’t care if they’re fake, real, or make believe spiders, I can’t stand even the thought of them!! So, now my precious boy wants me to wear a facsimile of one in my hair? YIKES! I think I’ll tell him my hair isn’t long enough or something like that. Maybe I’ll go make some funny ghost or googly eyes on a headband & wear them. Do you think he’ll be distracted well enough to forget about the spider hairdo? Unfortunately, I doubt it. Hope you get a good laugh out of this one!

  2. I LOVE the spider bun idea!!! My daughter was looking for something fun and creative to do with her hair and she loved this idea! Can’t wait to try it 🙂
