What is causing your biggest stress? Or what appears to be the hardest to use. Either pick the easiest or the largest — Whatever feels right. The key here is to start.
Comb through the items. Is there anything you can get rid of? How big is this pile? Once you have an idea of what you want to organize, it’s time to start.
Begin this step by creating or investing in versatile storage solutions such as:
- Wall-mounted shelves
- Pegboards
- Clear bins
- Hanging organizers
- Rolling organizers

These will help you declutter and make it easy to find and access your craft supplies when you do get time to create.

I use this old K-cup holder for my washi tape. It’s cute and gives me a space to organize by color and season. It’s easy to access as well.

Use clear plastic bins or stackable containers to categorize your supplies. This is how I store my stamps. They are arranged by season or event in these mini-crates.

3 steps for organizing your craft
Did you jump to the end for the short versions? The best 3 steps for organizing your craft room is to declutter and categorize your supplies.
- Begin by sorting through all your craft materials and tools, and set aside any items that you no longer use or need. Donate (or regift to a crafty friend) these items to free up space.
- Next, categorize your remaining supplies into groups such as paper and stationery, fabrics, paints and brushes, knitting and crochet supplies, and so on. Use clear bins, baskets, or shelves to store each category separately.
- Label each storage container to help you quickly find what you need.
