2. Begin by looking at your stash

What is causing your biggest stress? Or what appears to be the hardest to use. Either pick the easiest or the largest — Whatever feels right. The key here is to start.

Comb through the items. Is there anything you can get rid of? How big is this pile? Once you have an idea of what you want to organize, it’s time to start.

Begin this step by creating or investing in versatile storage solutions such as:

These will help you declutter and make it easy to find and access your craft supplies when you do get time to create.

When it comes to organizing your craft room, sometimes all you need is a bit of creativity. Incorporate some clever craft room storage hacks to make the most of your available space.

  1. Utilize vertical space by installing floating shelves or a hanging organizer for your fabric stash or rolls of wrapping paper.
  2. Hang a pegboard on the wall and attach hooks or clips to hold your frequently used tools within reach.
  3. Another cute idea is to repurpose a vintage ladder as a storage unit for spools of thread or ribbon.

Remember, the key is thinking outside the box and repurposing everyday items innovatively.

4. Organize and Inspire: Easy Craft Room Storage Ideas

An organized craft room saves you time and sparks your creativity – create the creative oasis that works for you.

There is not one right way or wrong way to do this. The key is to create a harmonious and inspiring craft space by implementing practical storage ideas that fits YOU.

Install a large bulletin board or cork board on one of your walls to pin up inspiration, project ideas, and to-do lists.

Use clear plastic bins or stackable containers to categorize your supplies. This is how I store my stamps. They are arranged by season or event in these mini-crates.

Label each container for easy identification, and consider using a color-coding system for different craft materials.

I love to talk about the supplies and tools I use. One of my favorite things to craft with is my cutting machines. I have a Cricut Maker and Cricut Joy. Grab my Cricut must-haves here.

Lastly, consider adding a cozy seating area with a comfortable chair and a small side table for your favorite crafting books or a cup of tea. Look at how cute this chair is!

A well-organized and creatively designed craft room will provide the perfect backdrop for your artistic pursuits.

3 steps for organizing your craft

Did you jump to the end for the short versions? The best 3 steps for organizing your craft room is to declutter and categorize your supplies.

  1. Begin by sorting through all your craft materials and tools, and set aside any items that you no longer use or need. Donate (or regift to a crafty friend) these items to free up space.
  2. Next, categorize your remaining supplies into groups such as paper and stationery, fabrics, paints and brushes, knitting and crochet supplies, and so on. Use clear bins, baskets, or shelves to store each category separately.
  3. Label each storage container to help you quickly find what you need.

By decluttering and categorizing, you’ll create a streamlined and efficient system that makes it easy to locate and access your craft supplies. Happy Crafting!
