Creating Your Bee-utiful Spring Door Hanger Sign Idea

Step 1: Sand and Paint the Wood Items

Begin by gently sanding your wooden circle to smooth any rough edges, prepping the surface for painting. Do the same for the wooden flowers.

Now, paint the items you want or stain them. You can also leave it the bare wood too.

I chose crisp white chalk paint for my circle, contrasting with a deep rich black for my flowers in keeping with my bee theme (black, white and yellow).

Step 2: Cutting Your Design

Next, let your Cricut machine shine! Use black EasyWeed HTV from Siser to cut out your charming “Bee Kind” text and the adorable bee.

Step 3: Prep Your Burlap Circle

The burlap takes it from a wooden sign to something a bit more creative. The HTV adheirs well but I wanted this for an inside sign so decided to get a little creative and used my burlap sheets.

Cut your burlap circle about 1–1.5 inches smaller than your wooden base. A rotary blade works wonderfully here, but scissors are fine too. Burlap adds that rustic charm, but if you prefer fabric or a painted look, those are equally fabulous! Here are a few ideas:

  • Paint an extra circle
  • Use material for the circle
  • Use Faux Leather for the circle
  • Adding stripes is cute too

Step 4: Press the HTV

Position the burlap circle on your base, lay the flowers down to help find the place for your text and bee design around the flowers. Temporarily remove the flower diecuts while you press the design. I used my Mini Heatpress from HTVRont (a home iron works as well, follow the temp instructions on your vinyl type)—use parchment paper or a Teflon sheet to protect your project if needed. I like to use pressing pillows for projects like this too.

Step 5: Assemble with Hot Glue

Glue the burlap circle onto the painted wooden base. Next, secure your lovely black flowers onto the sign, adding depth and style. It’s really coming together now.

Step 6: Bow and Hang

Finish off your Spring Door Hanger Sign Idea with a playful bow made from your coordinating ribbons. Staple or glue the bow onto your board. So many fun bow ideas to make. Here is a video with a few bow making ideas.

Finish it off by adding a loop at the back, or drill a hole to easily hang it.

Display Your Spring Door Hanger Sign

This charming sign adds a delightful spring vibe wherever it’s displayed—perfect as a focal piece on your porch door or as cozy indoor decor. Or make a mini version for a shelf sitter or tiered tray.
