So many creative ideas, where do you start when planning your wedding?

Step one: Set Your Budget.

Decide whether you will pay someone to handle it or buy it already completed, and then dive into the list below to put your Cricut or cutting machine to work.

The list can be endless for DIYing your wedding with your crafting skills. But once the budget is set I’d pick 3-5 projects and see what sounds fun that won’t break the bank, or decide what can you make to save money.

  • For example, you can make pretty custom wedding cake toppers and save money from buying a ceramic wedding couple one (this is one I wish I had done; it shows up in photos, and you don’t have to keep it.

Step two: Create a Timeline

Time often gets away from us when planning a wedding. So next to your notes about what you want to create, decide when you want to have them done.

Step three: Gather Supplies

Nothing slows a project down more than a trip to find items. Or waiting for them to arrive via snail mail (or Amazon haha). When you have what you need to get creative it can be so enjoyable and relaxing. Call in a few bridesmaids or the mother of the bride or your soon to be mother in law to help!

Favorite Wedding Fonts

If you are using your pen tool, or the print and cut feature, here are 4 of my favorite Cricut Fonts to use with your cutting machine.

Custom Table Numbers:

  • Create eye-catching table numbers with a font that matches your wedding theme that will guide your guests to their seats in style.
  • Use your cutting machine to cut out numbers from materials like wood, paper, or vinyl for a unique look – Get creative!
  • Enhance the design with special touches like floral embellishments or heat transfer vinyl for a pop of color.

These acrylic signs from Hobby Lobby are good for table numbers, a guestbook sign or gift table signs.

Create Elegant Seating Charts:

  • Make an organized seating arrangement sign with a DIY seating chart crafted with your Cricut Joy or other cutting machines. Simply sketch out the seating and then use shapes for the tables and a fun font for the table numbers. Display it by the door for guests.
  • Use the same idea as above but use the print and cut feature in a smaller form.

Matching Place Cards:

  • Impress your guests with personalized place cards that add a touch of charm to each table setting.
  • Experiment with different materials such as cardstock, acrylic sheets, wood, faux leather or even heat transfer vinyl for a modern twist.
  • Add a special flourish by including individual guest names and unique designs created with your Cricut machine.

DIY Wedding Decorations:

To me, nothing says DIY wedding ideas more than decorations you make yourself. Decorations for a wedding can be very costly unless you make some yourself. Using items from a thrift store and DIY them to match your wedding theme is a great way to use your creative talents to decorate without breaking the bank.

  • Elevate your wedding décor with handmade accents that reflect your style and creativity.
  • Craft paper flowers using your Cricut Maker for a budget-friendly alternative to fresh blooms.
  • Incorporate DIY banners, garlands, and signage to add a personalized touch to your venue.

Memorable Wedding Favors:

Making wedding favors is a good way to turn fun wedding projects into a girls’ night get-together with your bridesmaids. Show your appreciation to guests with thoughtful DIY wedding favors crafted with your Cricut machine. Decorate simple items on the tables as decor and next to the guest book.

  • Type your names plus wedding date and some double sided tape to print and cut labels, or use sticker paper. Use them on items the guests can take home: Candy (like a TicTac/mint container), Chocolate Bars (mini or regular size), Seed Packets, Matchbook covers,
  • Some larger personalized items could be candles, coasters, ornaments, or even succulent planters with custom labels or tags.
  • Use your wedding date and name (or a funny saying) and make can koozies with heat transfer vinyl or sublimation.
  • Grab some adhesive or PSV (pressure sensitive adhesive) and decorate wine glasses [this adhesive vinyl is more permanent)

Fun Bachelorette Party Accessories:

The Bride Squad SVG would be cute to make and give to your bridesmaids when you ask them to stand with you, or for the night of your bachlorette party.

  • Make your bachelorette party one to remember with matching shirts for your bridesmaids using your Cricut machine.
  • Create custom sashes, shirts, or tote bags for you and your bridal party to wear during the festivities.
  • Use heat transfer vinyl to add fun sayings, their names, and a wedding-themed graphic to a tumbler or wine glass for a keepsake.

Don’t forget about after the wedding. How about a fun shirt to give yourself?

Here are a couple of fun SVGs that would be cute! The Wifey and Hubby SVG are great for wedding decor too!

Guest Books with a Personal Touch

This can be a quick one that won’t take much time or can help save you money. Add your name with PSV (pressure sensitive adhesive) and decorate the cover to match your wedding. Use the end pages to organize your gift opening and track who needs a thank you card.

This can be very inexpensive and creative. Add fun colored pens in your wedding theme and it will look so pretty on the table to welcome guests.

Wedding DIY guest book ideas:

  • Journal: decorated with PSV (pressure-sensitive adhesive)
  • Wooden sign: personalized with your names. Use pens to sign around it.
  • Scrapbook: Layout blank pages to fit the album and have the quest sign and add messages. After your big day, add them to sleeves with a few photos.

More Cricut project tips: When making wedding decor with your Cricut, Don’t make it work so you can continue to enjoy your happy day. The possibilities are endless and you can overwhelm yourself fast. What makes sense for you to tackle? What do you have time to make? For example: Making your own wedding invites can take days! But making a guest book can save you money and be inexpensive. Or maybe creating the favors for guests would save you money and help make your day more personable.
