What Can You Make for a Baby Shower with Your Cricut?

Whether you’ve got a Cricut Maker, Cricut Explore, or even a little Cricut Joy, there are great options for DIY gifts and decor that make any baby shower extra special. Here are some of my favorite ideas:

Gift Ideas to Make for Baby Showers

Baby Bodysuits (aka onesies): Use iron-on vinyl or even puff vinyl (hello texture!) with fun sayings like my free SVG design  “World’s Cutest Alarm Clock.” It’s perfect for a new baby gift or a funny card (print and cut works great).

Baby Bibs: Use sublimation or iron-on vinyl. Add their name for a personalized gift!

Baby Blankets: Use your Cricut and a little heat press magic to add a sweet design or birth date. Or embroidery is good too if you have a machine.

Memory Game: Use chipboard and your knife blade to create custom baby-themed memory cards for a baby shower game. Cute, clever, and keepsake-worthy. (Just add baby items to 2 cards and keep going until you have a full set.)

Baby Gift Baskets: Fill a basket with your handmade goodies and top it off with vinyl labels or tags using your cutting machine.

Cricut Baby Shower Decor Ideas

Adorable Decorations: Use cardstock and vinyl to make banners, cupcake toppers, and signage in baby shower themes. Bonus points if they match the new nursery and be used as decor later!

Photo Props: Make cute signs or onesie cutouts for fun things like “Team Boy” or “Team Girl” photo ops.

Table Signs & Labels: Use Cricut Design Space to create table tents and tags for food and gifts. The Welcome Baby SVG in the shop makes for fun decor here.

Wearables for the Shower

Sashes or Tees for Mom-to-Be: “Mommy in the Making” or “Ready to Pop” designs on t-shirts or tote bags.

Shirts for Grandma, Auntie, or Big Brother: Make everyone feel included with a personalized tee. (I love Creative Fabrica (use Thirsty Affiliates for the link here) for a fun font option for this one!)

Name Tags or Buttons: Use print then cut features and add some glitter vinyl … because if you can sparkle, you should.

Tips for Creating the Perfect Gift for New Moms

Tips for creating a thoughtful baby gift, or a practical baby gift that is cute an actually get used.
If you’re crafting a new baby gift, here are a few ways to make it extra special:

  • Personalize It: Add the baby’s name, monogram, or even birth stats. This instantly turns a simple item into a personalized gift celebrating those first special moments. (add to a stuffed animal or make a sign or picture frame for mom).
  • Think Practical: Cute is always a win, but combining it with function is even better! Practical baby gifts like bibs, blankets, or labeled baskets for organizing diapers or pacifiers are always appreciated.
  • Keep It Soft: If you’re using iron-on vinyl on items that touch baby skin (like onesies or blankets), make sure to use soft vinyl and press with care.
  • Bundle It Up: Create a small baby gift basket with matching items in the same color palette. A blanket, bodysuit, and matching bib in different colors but the same theme make a cohesive and great gift set.
  • Make a Keepsake: Use your sewing machine to create a quilt square or soft taggie toy. These can become treasured keepsakes as the cute baby grows. Use an SVG to make a sublimation image to add the baby’s name.

Want to Make Baby Gifts a Side Hustle?

Baby gifts are one of the most cost-effective ways to build a creative business. Why? Because people are always having babies (true story), and personalized baby items make great gifts that stand out at showers.

Plus, if you’re already making these for friends and family, why not snap a few pics and start sharing on social media? Post your items, link to your free SVGs or Etsy shop, and you’ve got yourself a tiny but mighty marketing plan.

Pro Tip: Puff Vinyl = Baby Gift Game Changer

Want to add texture and dimension to your baby bodysuit or bib designs? Puff vinyl can do the trick. It puffs up when heated and gives that boutique-style look without the boutique price. In this post about puff vinyl, I share all my tips and tricks and a full project.

Cricut Machines That Work Best for Baby Gifts”

Which Cricut Machine Should You Use?
No matter which Cricut cutting machine you have, there are great options for creating baby gifts.

  • The Cricut Maker is ideal for fabric-based projects like baby blankets or soft toys. Its knife blade or rotary blade lets you cut thicker materials like chipboard for memory games or wooden nursery signs. If you want the most versatility, the Maker is a solid investment for baby gifts and beyond.
  • The Cricut Explore series is a fan-favorite for a reason. It handles iron-on vinyl and cardstock beautifully, making it an excellent choice for baby onesies, bibs, or party decorations.
  • The compact Cricut Joy is perfect for fast, small projects. Think name tags, vinyl labels for baby gift baskets, or iron-on designs for baby hats. It’s a great way to knock out a bunch of gifts with a machine that doesn’t take up much space.

All of these work with Cricut Design Space, where you can size your SVGs perfectly for onesies, bibs, or even cards. Just remember to mirror your design for iron-on vinyl… and always place the shiny side down on the mat!

Tools & Supplies That Make It Easier

Here’s a handy list of items that will help your project go smoother than a baby’s bottom:

  • Cricut Maker, Cricut Explore, or Cricut Joy (all are great cutting machine choices)
  • Iron-on Vinyl (don’t forget the shiny side goes down when cutting!)
  • Transfer Tape (a must for adhesive vinyl decals)
  • Sewing Machine (for combining Cricut cuts with fabric or handmade baby blankets)
  • Knife Blade or rotary cutter (for chipboard or wood accents)
  • Weeding tools (weed design carefully for those tiny baby details)
  • Heat press or iron
