About the Host

If we haven’t met yet, my name is Chelly Ontis. I’ve been helping clients online and locally since 1997 to grow their events with my marketing skills. I used this experience to host my annual Craft Business Summit, but this is my first crafters summit, and I’m thrilled you are on this adventure with me!

The SVG Crafters Summit is a 3-day online event that will help crafters learn to use digital files with confidence in a fun way, and leave a more confident crafter.

January 12-14, 2023 * SVG Crafters Summit

Here, you’ll find resources (links, dates, and tips to make a success for YOUR brand) meant to make your life as a presenter easy and organized plus, it should answer any questions you might have about being a part of my summit. If you ever have a question, email me at [email protected]

Here is a quick rundown of how the SVG Crafters Summit will flow.

The event will run from January 12-14, 2023 (US timezone), featuring about 5 pre-recorded presentations each day. I plan to kick off the event with a live Facebook presentation on “What is an SVG” to help remind them to show up. The pre-recorded presentations will be on a course site to access all presenters and bonuses for free and paid VIP attendees.

While the presentations will be pre-recorded on our course site, all speakers are asked to spend some time with the attendees in the Facebook Group the day their presentation goes up. This is key to interacting with attendees and answering any questions on your presentation to build long-lasting fans! This group is for attendees to hang out in, ask us additional questions and find new inspiration with other crafter’s posts. (This link is below in your handy to-do list.)

Leading up to the SVG Crafters Summit, we’ll have 16 days of promotion. Being it’s just after Christmas, there will be a new machine buzz online. Feel free to start talking about it sooner. You’ll be provided with swipe copy for email and social media messages, plus graphics to save you time! I’ll create a suggested marketing schedule to make it easy for you, or your VA, to promote the event. Each presenter is asked to send 2 emails and do at least 2 social media posts. the more you talk about it, the more successful it will be for your brand.

VIP Crafters Pass: Although it is free to watch during the 3 days, there’s an upgrade to keep access. During the promotional phase, as the summit is running, and for a few days after the summit is complete, we’ll also promote this VIP Crafters Pass. This is their upgraded ticket to accessing the replays and bonus resources. This will provide immense value to our attendees while doing the work of creating a presentation worthwhile by allowing you to bring in affiliate commissions. Win-win!

If you are available to meet our deadlines and promote during our marketing timeline (12/30/22-01/14/23), then welcome, and here is a quick list of your to-do items. I know how busy we all are, so my goal is to make this as simple and organized as possible.

2. Presentation Details

Presentations are to be uploaded by October 31, 2022.

Topic Guidelines For Your Presentation

Each presenter should do some sort of digital file guidance. This can be a video where you only share your screen and show them how to use the digital file or software. Some presenters are doing a craft, but there needs to be some digital file explanation or mention. (Watch Facebook Live for Presenters).

  • Unboxing Videos (Glowfordge, Silhouette, Cricut, Brother Cut N Scan, etc.)
  • Tips for Unstuffing Zip Files
  • How to convert a JPG into an SVG (taken title)
  • Software tips (examples: 3 Things You Can Do In Design Space, or Advanced Hacks for Design Space)
  • Best way / How to organize your digital files.
  • Crafting session title example: How to use a PDF (digital file name) as a sewing pattern (craft name).
  • Best practices for (Glowfordge, Silhouette, Cricut, Brother Cut N Scan….)

Recording Tips for Presentations

These are generally more friendly and casual than perfectly structured videos – but if that’s your jam, go for it! We want our attendees to learn something great while having fun in the process, so keep that in mind with whatever format you pick.

Length is usually 20-40 minutes if making a craft. But if you are only showing them tech on using a digital file, I wouldn’t worry about the length as much as making sure they have quality content (some could be 12 mins/others might be close to an hour if the topic goes deep). Most videos are in 25-35 min range, with up to a 3-minute pitch at the end.

Tell them what they need to know while being the fun and lovable self you are, and it will be perfect!

Please structure your content in a way that allows attendees to walk away feeling like they’ve learned something. Videos should not be in a webinar format where they feel like they’re missing something and that they need to buy from you in order to get value from your topic.

With that being said, here are some presentation format ideas for you use:

  • Slides
  • Just your smiling face, or your hands creating (no slides)
  • A mixture of the two
  • Screen share for tech

If you are new, you might want a little more guidance when filming here is a suggested production timeline:

  1. A quick introduction and welcome to SVG Crafters Summit [1 minute]
  2. An overview of your topic (usually just a sentence or 2) [30-60 seconds]
  3. Teaching Section [10-35 minute range]
  4. Include questions for attendees to answer in the FB group throughout to boost engagement and get people talking about your tutorial (to get more views) [1-3 minutes]
  5. Up to a 3-minute pitch (for a free opt-in that can be linked under your video)

Tip: End by talking about what you have coming up on your blog or social media to give them a reason to hurry over. (Example to say… “In February, I’ll be sharing my favorite Valentine’s day crafts” … or “On my Instagram, I do weekly reels with crafting tips. Don’t forget to follow me!”)

3. VIP Crafters Pass Contribution

VIP Crafters Pass details are to be uploaded by October 31, 2022.

The VIP Crafters Pass is optional for presenters but will be a huge addition to the presentations we’re running. To make it even more valuable that they grab a VIP ticket to keep the tutorials, each of the presenters and sponsors are invited to provide one resource to this section. This includes things like:

  • eBooks
  • Workbooks
  • Courses (big or small)
  • 1-month memberships

Note: These generally convert so well that you don’t want to contribute a 1:1 service/offer.

It’s your choice if you’d like to create something new or provide something you already have completed. While this isn’t required, it’s highly encouraged that you participate to get the most out of this SVG Crafters Summit.

One benefit of the VIP Crafters Pass is that any presenter who does contribute a premium resource (AKA, not something you’re giving away for free to everyone else) will get a 50% affiliate commission on sales rather than the standard 40%.

If you choose to participate, you can add this information when you upload your video and fill out the remainder of the details.
Information for these resources is due on October 31, 2022. (This is when the link is due to your VIP offer, the event has one coupon code you use on your site for them to access your VIP offer. You can see how this is a HUGE traffic source.)

The power of an online summit comes from the collaboration of the group of experts coming together for the same mission. The joint promotions that happen because of this create a huge benefit to everyone involved.

Because of that, everyone is asked to share on social media and to email their lists at least twice (each) during the promotional period: 12/30/22-01/14/23 (US timezone).

You’ll want to share using your affiliate link (which you will set up in your basic information form) so you can get in on the 40% commission that will come from any VIP Crafters Pass sales (50% if you’ve contributed a premium bonus).

You’ll find swipe copy and graphics in Dropbox and your Presenters Vault (link to come). Watch for details in the Presenter’s Facebook Page.

The final step is the easy one. Participation with attendees during the event. Once we get the videos set and you schedule your emails and posts for the summit, this feels like a breeze.

I kindly ask that you participate in the Facebook Group during your presentation day and interact with attendees throughout the event to help attendees stay excited and engaged.

While you are not required to attend the events of other speakers, it’s highly encouraged! We’ll be able to get some great discussions going about the topics being presented.

While summits are great for overall exposure for your brand, and they always help you make new connections, a little extra income is exciting too!
That’s where the VIP Crafters Pass comes in! Using your affiliate link in your marketing, you’ll receive a commission from the sales your traffic brings in. Payouts for each month are paid on the 15th (or the previous business day) of the following month.

The commission structure is as follows:

  • 40% for all affiliate presenters
  • 50% for all affiliate presenters who include a VIP Crafters Pass bonus

The pricing structure will be:

  • $37 VIP Crafters Pass – Fast Acting Bonus
  • $57 VIP Crafters Pass – After the 20-minute timer ends
  • $97 from January 13 and after the summit

To make it as easy as possible for you to generate extra income, the Presenter Vault includes things like email swipe copy, social media copy, and social share graphics. However, you’re more than welcome to write your own copy and even run your own Facebook or Instagram ads. Just remember to use YOUR affiliate link.

As with all affiliate promotions, be sure to disclose that you’re an affiliate when sharing with your audience.

This is a link to items in a Dropbox. Please copy them into your files and do not edit the files. Items will be available about 30 days before the SVG Crafters Summit to give you time to schedule it out. But don’t forget to talk about it live! (These will be built after your videos are uploaded. (This is why our deadline is Oct 31 for the January event.) Check back on Dec 1st and watch for details in the Presenter’s Facebook Page.

  • Social media swipe copy (coming soon)
